NTK-50 Oscillator

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

Problem:

A local chemical plant handles small catalytic pellets that are wet when they are fed onto the belt and run through a furnace where they are dried out. After being dried out, the pellets become hard and brittle and break during handling which cause build up of debris causing the belt to mistrack.

Situation:

After the pellets are dried out they become hard and brittle and break during handling. The problem occurs when these pellets break, the fines and dust fall between the weave on the wire belt and build up causing the belt to mistrack.

Solution:

From tapping on the underside of the belt and noticing how easily the build falls loose, Martin Vibration Systems recommended mounting a NTK-5 Oscillator under the belt to provide the tapping action. The NTK-5 was mounted in such a way that the tapping affect would be transmitted along the belt’s entire width.

Case Study: NTS-5 Oscillator – Eliminate Backup

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

Problem:

Martin Vibration Systems supplied stainless steel woven wire belts to a Detroit chemical plant. This belt handles small catalytic pellets, when exiting the furnace they are dry and brittle and fall through the weave on the wire belt and build up on the head pulley causing the belt to mistrack.

Situation:

Initially the pellets are wet and fed into the furnace to dry out. After these pellets come out of the furnace and the moisture is removed they become hard and brittle and often break during handling. The problem occurs when these pellets break. As these pellets crumble, the fines and dust fall between the weave on the wire belt and build up on the head pulley causing the belt to mistrack.

Solution:

Upon inspection of the belt, we determined by tapping the belt how easily the fines and dust fell to the floor. Martin Vibration Systems recommended a NTS-5 Oscillator to tap on the belt. An additional benefit of this vibrating belt cleaner is that since the cleaner is 43 & 1/2 inches wide and the belt is 46 & 1/2 inches inside the edges, our cleaner also helps train the belt. Our customer is very pleased with the results of this innovative Martin solution to a material handling problem.

Case Study: Confectionery Company

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

Problem:

A Wisconsin Confectionery required equipment to separate and spread individual pieces of candy on the processing belt to prepare the candies for coating.

Situation:

This company had difficulty separating their small, dry chocolate and other flavored candy evenly for coating application. As a result, they were experiencing a high amount of waste from the clumping of the candy during this process.

Solution:

MARTINĀ® NTKĀ® Oscillators (NTK 18al) were installed to the shaking-zone frame creating vibration with low noise between 60 to 70 dBa and no oil mist discharge. The Oscillators provide their line with instant start/stop capability, and the lubrication-free and wash down safe equipment has really improved their confectionery packaging processes significantly with low waste.
